The City of Coyote Flats is aware of the recent announcement by Johnson County declaring a state of disaster due to contamination from per-and Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), commonly known as “Forever chemicals”, found in agricultural lands.

According to (JCSUD) Johnson County Special Utilities District the PFAS contamination of groundwater referenced in the declaration does not affect JCSUD customers. JCSUD sampling has not detected PFAS in the groundwater from their water well. They do encourage any residents of Johnson County who are not on a public water system and rely on private water wells for their drinking water supply to have their well water tested.
