Letter from the Mayor

Doug Peterson, Mayor

Coyote Flats is a truly unique place, rooted in small town way of life and wide open spaces. Originally an unincorporated area, our City faced annexation, which would have brought higher taxes and potentially more development to our community. In response, we chose to protect our way of life. Looking back on the history of Coyote Flats brings me great hope for our future, as we continue to uphold traditional values and a strong sense of community.

In July 2024, we took the initial steps to protect the future of our community

by initiating work on a Comprehensive Plan for Coyote Flats.

This Comprehensive Plan serves as a strategic tool (not zoning regulations) to communicate our vision for managing growth and development in a way that meets our community’s vision for the future.

The Coyote Flats Comprehensive Plan integrates community feedback

alongside existing conditions to provide a path forward to protect what makes Coyote Flats special. I am thankful for those residents and stakeholders who have contributed to this Plan, and I trust that it will set us up for success as this area experiences growth pressure from all sides.

Coyote Flats is more than just a place on the map—it is home.

Sincerely,

Doug Peterson
